Privacy Policy

BeStreak is built by a solo developer, not a data company. This policy explains, in plain language, what BeStreak collects, why, and how you can delete it — all of it — whenever you want.
1. Who we are
BeStreak is an independent app ("BeStreak", "we", "us") developed by Mad Chaos, based in Sydney, Australia. If you have any question about this policy, email hello@bestreak.com.
2. Information we collect
BeStreak only collects what it needs to run the app and sync your data across your devices.
Information you provide
- Account information — the email address you register with and a securely hashed password (hashed with scrypt; never stored in plain text), or your Google account identifier if you sign in with Google.
- Workout data — exercises, sets, reps, weights, personal bests, session notes, routines and templates you create.
- Body metrics — body weight, height, BMI/BMR inputs, body measurements and target weight, if you choose to log them.
- Progress photos — any image you attach to a personal best or add to the PR Photo Wall. Photos are stored against your account only, or kept on your device when you exceed your plan's cloud photo allowance.
- Voice memos — short audio notes you record during a workout. These are stored on your device with the relevant session and are periodically pruned by the app; they are not uploaded to our servers.
Information collected automatically
- Usage & analytics data — we use Google Analytics for Firebase (GA4) to understand which screens and features are used, so we can improve the app. This includes app version, device type, general region and in-app events, and is not linked to your workout content.
- Diagnostics — crash logs and basic connectivity/error information used to keep the app working.
- Advertising identifier — on the free tier, our ad provider may access your device's advertising ID and limited device information to serve and measure ads (see Section 4).
Voice input (speech-to-text)
When you use voice entry to fill in fields, your speech is processed by your device's built-in speech-recognition service (provided by Google on Android) to convert it to text. That processing is governed by Google's own privacy policy. BeStreak receives only the resulting text.
We do not ask for or collect your real name, physical address, phone number, or payment card details. Purchases are handled by our payment providers (see Section 4), and we never see or store your card information.
3. How we use your information
- To create and secure your account, and let you sign in from any device.
- To store and sync your training data across your devices via Firebase (Google Cloud infrastructure).
- To back up your data so it isn't lost if you lose or replace your phone.
- To diagnose crashes and improve the app's reliability.
- To serve ads on the free tier, and to process your purchase if you upgrade to Premium.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use your workout data for advertising targeting.
4. Third-party services
BeStreak relies on a small number of trusted providers to operate. Each has its own privacy policy governing how it handles data on our behalf.
- Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, Hosting) — stores your account and workout data securely, encrypted in transit and at rest.
- Google Analytics for Firebase (GA4) — anonymous-by-default usage analytics to help us improve the app.
- Google AdMob — serves ads to free-tier users. AdMob may use advertising identifiers to serve, cap, measure and (where you consent) personalise ads. See how Google uses data from apps that use its services and Google's Privacy Policy. Upgrading to Premium removes ads.
- RevenueCat — manages your Premium subscription status on Android and validates purchases made through Google Play. RevenueCat receives a purchase token and your app-generated user ID, not your payment card details.
- Paddle — processes Premium subscription purchases made on the web. When you buy on the web, Paddle acts as the merchant of record and collects your payment details directly under its own privacy policy; BeStreak receives only your subscription status, not your card number.
- Google Play Billing — processes in-app purchases on Android; we receive confirmation of a purchase, never your card details.
Ad consent (EEA, UK and certain US states)
Where required by law, BeStreak shows a consent form (via Google's User Messaging Platform) before serving personalised ads, so you can accept or decline. You can change your choice at any time from the in-app Ad privacy options control, and you can reset your advertising ID or opt out of ad personalisation in your device settings.
5. Data storage & security
Your data is stored on Google Cloud infrastructure via Firebase, protected by industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. Passwords are never stored in plain text — they are hashed using scrypt before being saved. Your workout data, photos, and body metrics are private to your account by default: there is no public profile, social feed, or leaderboard that exposes your information to other users.
6. Your rights & choices
- Export — download a full backup of your data at any time from Settings (JSON and other formats).
- Delete — delete individual entries, or your entire account and all associated data, from within the app. Deletion is permanent.
- Access & correction — everything BeStreak stores about you is visible and editable directly in the app.
- Ad choices — manage or withdraw ad-personalisation consent at any time from the in-app Ad privacy options control, or via your device's ad settings.
If you'd rather we handle a request manually (for example, if you no longer have access to the app), email hello@bestreak.com and we'll action it within 30 days.
7. Data retention
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your data is permanently removed from our production database; residual copies may persist in encrypted backups for a limited period before being purged.
8. Children's privacy
BeStreak is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. International users
BeStreak is operated from Australia and your data may be processed on servers located outside your own country as part of Google Cloud's global infrastructure. By using BeStreak, you consent to this transfer and processing.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Effective" date above, and significant changes may be announced in-app.
